Spread the Word About CSSN

Many youth are affected by safe schools issues in one way or another. For example, did you know that at least one in three adolescent students in Canada said they’ve been bullied recently? And that 47% of Canadian parents say they have a child who has been bullied. Did you also know that the rate of discrimination experienced by students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified, queer, Two-Spirited or questioning is three times higher than for heterosexual youth? Not only that, there are many students who have had to deal with crime in their communities or at school.

We want to find ways to reduce these statistics. We want all of our youth to enjoy dignity and safety wherever they are. So it’s important to spread the word about the work that the Canadian Safe School Network is doing.

Spreading the word helps reach youth who might not know that help is available to them. It also helps reach parents who are dealing with situations that are new to them. Teachers learn how to handle safe-school issues right in their own classrooms, often preventing things from becoming bigger problems.
